Program Manager

DEFINITION AND PURPOSE: The Program Manager is dedicated to pursuing excellence in the management of Renovation Alliance’s home repair programs. The Program Manager is responsible for managing Renovation Alliance’s home repair programs in a way that honors the homeowner clients, meets programmatic best practices, and ensures Renovation Alliance is a good steward of its funding. The Program Manager works closely with the Executive Director in grant operations and the tracking and assessment of program needs and outcomes. The Program Manager works closely with the Director of Construction to communicate when applications are completed and stay current on project status. The Program Manager serves as the primary contact for homeowner clients during the application and eligibility process.

The Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the AmeriCorps VISTA member serving Renovation Alliance. As part of this supervisory role, the Program Manager will meet regularly with the VISTA member, assign and track projects, and ensure the goals of their service term are met.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: The incumbent is responsible for:

  • Working directly with homeowners to secure, complete, and submit their applications for home repair and satisfying all eligibility documentation requirements

  • Leading the application intake and review process to include entering applications into the database and verifying and documenting eligibility of the homeowner

  • Managing Renovation Alliance’s project database to include the accurate and timely input of data, creation and maintenance of spreadsheets, and the creation of reports as needed

  • Obtaining and tracking program data to include applications on Renovation Alliance’s waitlist, project data, and volunteer data

  • Securing project close-out documentation including the Repair Acknowledgement and tracking data gathered from these documents to include impact and satisfaction survey results

  • Evaluating program outcomes to tell the story of Renovation Alliance including the who, what, where, and how of program services

  • Working with the Executive Director and appropriate Board committees to assess the needs of Renovation Alliance using quantitative and qualitative data available

  • Ensuring all grant pre-approval requirements are met as well as submitting grants reimbursements and completing required reports

  • Assisting in Renovation Alliance’s marketing activities to be completed by the AmeriCorps VISTA member, Executive Director, members of the Board of Directors, and/or other Renovation Alliance staff. Marketing activities to include:

    • Management of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram)

    • Management of website

    • Development of marketing materials (flyers, mailers, signage)

  • Supervising the AmeriCorps VISTA member, including regular supervision and project oversight

  • Attending in-person and virtual meetings and conferences, including a weekly team meeting, monthly Board meetings, and regularly scheduled community-based meetings. Conferences will require local and overnight travel.

  • Planning and organizing a variety of events involving multiple volunteer groups and projects including summer youth groups and Community Renovation Day, in conjunction with the full Renovation Alliance team and Board of Directors

  • Other tasks and duties as determined by the Executive Director

REQUIRED SKILLS AND LICENSES (as appropriate, certifications must be obtained as close to start date as possible, cost of certification will be provided by Renovation Alliance)

  • Valid Virginia driver's license

  • Strong ability to use Renovation Alliance’s project tracking database and other computer-based data tracking and communication applications as needed

  • Ability to analyze data and identify trends

  • Ability to manage competing tasks and due dates

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires work to be completed in an office setting as well as out in the field. Virtual or work-from-home opportunities are also available as appropriate and as desired by the incumbent. Travel across Renovation Alliance’s service area is required. Anticipate 10-15% of work to be completed in the field, including travel and on project sites.

SALARY, SCHEDULE, LEAVE, AND BENEFITS: The Program Manager is a full-time salaried position. Salary starting at $42,000, negotiable. Renovation Alliance offers a flexible work schedule based on individual and project needs as well as flexible options for working from home. The incumbent is expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week or 160 hours per month. Compensatory time will be provided for hours worked outside of the normal schedule (i.e. weekend projects/events). Renovation Alliance provides 10 days of annual and sick leave to be taken at will. Renovation Alliance’s office is closed for 18 days in observance of the following: New Year’s Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day (5 days, to be scheduled annually), Juneteenth, July Fourth, Labor Day, Indigenous People’s Day, Thanksgiving (2 days, to be scheduled annually), and the week of Christmas (5 days, to be scheduled annually).

A Renovation Alliance vehicle is provided for use while on duty. Should a privately owned vehicle be used, mileage will be reimbursed at the standard mileage rate (65.5 cents per mile, 2023 IRS Standard Mileage Rate).

Additional benefits include a monthly health benefit stipend and employee development opportunities to be paid for by Renovation Alliance to increase the incumbent’s skills and experience.

Construction Site Leader

Part-time, Summer Internship (stipend) Posting closes 5/17/2024

DEFINITION AND PURPOSE: Renovation Alliance is a nonprofit organization that works to ensure every person, regardless of income, is able to live in a warm, safe, dry, accessible, and healthy home. The organization engages volunteers and skilled professionals to complete critical and necessary home repairs for low-income homeowners - all at no cost to the homeowner. These services are provided to low-income homeowners residing in the Roanoke Valley with a special focus on older adults, persons with disabilities, veterans and surviving partners, and families caring for young children.

The Construction Site Leader plays an essential role in our summer programming and will work directly with Renovation Alliance's construction staff to fulfill the organization's mission. Essential duties include completing home reviews and preparing materials lists, coordinating with volunteer groups, and leading volunteers on project work sites.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND LICENSES (as appropriate, certifications must be obtained as close to start date as possible, cost of certification will be provided by Renovation Alliance)

  • Valid Virginia driver's license

  • Ability to lift heavy construction materials

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires work to be completed in an office setting as well as out in the field.

SCHEDULE AND BENEFITS: This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule based on project needs. Expect weekday and some weekend hours.

A monthly stipend of $1,000 will be offered. This may be negotiated hired based on experience and hours.

Should a privately owned vehicle be used, mileage will be reimbursed at the standard mileage rate (65.5 cents per mile, 2023 IRS Standard Mileage Rate). A Renovation Alliance vehicle may be made available, based on need and appropriateness.
